Ingredients
Scale
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped walnuts, toasted
1 cup white chocolate chips
Icing: 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar, 3 tablespoons milk, 1 teaspoon pure maple syrup, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang.
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the maple syrup and vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
Fold in the toasted walnuts and white chocolate chips.
Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the edges are set and a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with moist crumbs attached.
Let the blondies cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
To make the icing, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, maple syrup, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Once cooled, drizzle or spread the icing evenly over the blondies.
Once the icing is set, use the parchment overhang to lift the blondies out and cut them into squares.
Notes
Toasting the walnuts deepens their flavor, adding a comforting depth to the blondies.
Ensure your butter is truly softened, not melted, for the best texture.
Cool the blondies completely before icing; this prevents the icing from melting away.
Jun prefers these slightly underbaked for a chewier center, while Mei likes them fully set. Find your perfect balance!
