Ingredients
Scale
1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup all-purpose flour (for light coating)
12 small corn or flour tortillas
For Slaw: 2 cups shredded cabbage, 1/4 cup chopped cilantro, juice of 1 lime, 1 tablespoon mayonnaise, pinch of salt
For Serving: Lime wedges, desired hot sauce
Instructions
Pat the shrimp completely dry using paper towels. This helps achieve crispiness.
In a medium bowl, toss the dry shrimp with olive oil.
In a separate small bowl, mix the garlic powder, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Sprinkle this seasoning mix over the shrimp and toss to coat evenly.
Lightly dust the seasoned shrimp with the flour, shaking off any excess.
Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (195°C).
Arrange the shrimp in a single layer in the air fryer basket, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding.
Air fry for 6 to 8 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the shrimp are pink and slightly crispy.
While the shrimp cooks, prepare the slaw: Combine shredded cabbage, cilantro, lime juice, mayonnaise, and salt in a bowl. Mix well.
Warm the tortillas according to package directions (a quick warm in a dry skillet works well).
Assemble the tacos: Place a portion of crispy garlic shrimp onto each warm tortilla, top with the cilantro lime slaw, and serve immediately with lime wedges and hot sauce.
Notes
For extra garlic flavor, you can add 1 teaspoon of garlic salt to the seasoning mix.
Do not skip drying the shrimp; moisture prevents crisping in the air fryer.
If you prefer softer shrimp, reduce the cooking time by 1-2 minutes.
