Ingredients
Scale
12 slices bacon, cut in half
24 pitted dates
24 blanched almonds or small cubes of cheese (e.g., goat cheese, blue cheese)
1/4 cup maple syrup (optional)
1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
If using, wrap each date with a half-slice of bacon. Secure with a toothpick if needed.
Place an almond or a cube of cheese inside the cavity of each pitted date.
Arrange the bacon-wrapped dates on the prepared baking sheet.
If using maple syrup and rosemary, brush the tops of the dates with maple syrup and sprinkle with rosemary.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and golden brown.
Remove toothpicks before serving.
Notes
For an extra flavor boost, you can grill or pan-fry the bacon slightly before wrapping the dates.
Experiment with different fillings like walnuts, pecans, or a small piece of dried fruit.
These can be made ahead of time and reheated before serving.
