Indulge in this rich Chocolate Hazelnut Stuffed French Toast. It brings together comforting tradition and a burst of sweet, nutty flavor. This recipe is a perfect balance, just like the conversation in our kitchen.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 slices thick bread (Brioche or Challah recommended)
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup chocolate hazelnut spread
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk (any kind works)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter for frying
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting
  • Extra chocolate hazelnut spread for drizzling

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix the softened cream cheese and 1/4 cup of the chocolate hazelnut spread until smooth. This is your filling.
  2. Take four slices of bread. Spread the chocolate hazelnut cream cheese mixture evenly on one side of each slice.
  3. Top each filled slice with the remaining four plain slices of bread, creating four sandwiches. Gently press the edges to seal.
  4. In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and salt. This is your egg bath.
  5. Dip each sandwich into the egg bath, coating both sides well. Do not soak; quick dips are best.
  6. Melt half the butter in a large skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  7. Cook the stuffed French toast for 3 to 4 minutes per side, until golden brown and heated through. Add more butter as needed between batches.
  8. Remove from the skillet. Slice each piece in half diagonally.
  9. Dust generously with powdered sugar and drizzle with extra chocolate hazelnut spread before serving immediately.

Notes

  • Using thick bread prevents the filling from squeezing out while cooking.
  • For an extra comforting flavor, gently warm the chocolate hazelnut spread slightly before mixing it with the cream cheese.
  • Serve with fresh berries if you want a bright contrast to the richness.
