Prepare this rich, decadent chocolate overnight oats recipe the night before for a quick, healthy, make-ahead breakfast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or sweetener of choice
  • 1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt or dairy-free alternative (optional, for creaminess)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a jar or container with a lid, combine the rolled oats, chia seeds, cocoa powder, maple syrup, milk, yogurt (if using), vanilla extract, and salt.
  2. Stir or shake the mixture well until all ingredients are fully incorporated and no dry clumps remain.
  3. Seal the container and place it in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight.
  4. In the morning, check the consistency. If it is too thick, stir in a splash more milk until you reach your desired creaminess.
  5. Eat cold directly from the jar.

Notes

  • For a high-protein version, use protein powder or increase the amount of Greek yogurt.
  • If you prefer a thinner texture, increase the milk by 1 to 2 tablespoons.
  • Top with fresh berries or a spoonful of peanut butter before serving.
