Ingredients
Scale
1 loaf French bread, cut into 1-inch thick slices
4 large eggs
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 cup raisins
1 tablespoon butter, melted
Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon.
Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, coating both sides well. Allow the bread to soak for about 30 seconds per side.
Arrange the soaked bread slices in the prepared baking dish.
Sprinkle the raisins evenly over the bread.
Drizzle the melted butter over the top of the bread and raisins.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the French toast is golden brown and set in the center.
Let it cool slightly before serving. Dust with powdered sugar.
Notes
You can soak the bread longer if you prefer a softer texture.
Use day-old bread for the best results; it absorbs the custard better without becoming too soggy.
Serve with maple syrup or fresh fruit for extra flavor.
