A delightful pull-apart casserole perfect for brunch, featuring cinnamon-swirl bread soaked in a rich custard and baked to golden perfection. It’s a comforting and easy way to feed a crowd, blending the best of cinnamon rolls and French toast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (12 ounce) package cinnamon rolls, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Arrange the cinnamon roll pieces in a single layer in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
  3. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the cinnamon roll pieces in the baking dish.
  4. If using, sprinkle the chopped pecans over the top.
  5. Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the bread to soak up the custard.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Remove the plastic wrap and bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the bake is golden brown and puffed, and the center is set.
  8. Let it cool slightly before serving. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

  • For an even richer flavor, you can use a combination of milk and half-and-half.
  • Ensure the cinnamon roll pieces are fully submerged in the custard for the best texture.
  • This bake can be assembled the night before, making it a convenient option for busy mornings.
