Ingredients
Scale
2 oz Blanco Tequila (100% agave)
1 oz Fresh Lime Juice
0.75 oz Orange Liqueur (Cointreau recommended)
Coarse Salt (for rim)
Lime wedge (for rim and garnish)
Ice cubes
Instructions
Prepare the salt rim: Run a lime wedge around the outer rim of your serving glass.
Pour coarse salt onto a small, flat plate. Gently invert the glass and press the moistened rim lightly into the salt to coat evenly. Do not coat the inside of the glass.
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
Add the tequila, fresh lime juice, and orange liqueur to the shaker.
Seal the shaker and shake hard until the outside of the shaker is very cold, about 15 to 20 seconds.
Fill your prepared, salted glass with fresh ice cubes.
Strain the mixture from the shaker into the prepared glass over the ice.
Garnish with a fresh lime wedge or wheel.
Notes
Use only freshly squeezed lime juice for the best flavor. Bottled juice changes the taste significantly.
For a slightly less tart drink, you can reduce the lime juice to 0.75 oz and increase the orange liqueur to 1 oz.
If you prefer a less intense salt flavor, only salt half of the rim.
