Enjoy this warm and inviting Cranberry Orange Mulled Cider with Spice. It is the perfect comforting drink for a cold day, blending tart cranberry, bright orange, and classic mulling spices.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups apple cider
  • 1 cup cranberry juice, unsweetened
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 6 whole cloves
  • 2 star anise
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Combine the apple cider, cranberry juice, orange slices, fresh cranberries, cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, and nutmeg in a large saucepan.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Do not let it boil.
  3. Reduce the heat to low. Let the cider gently mull for at least 20 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend.
  4. Taste the cider. If you prefer it sweeter, add a touch of honey or maple syrup (optional).
  5. Remove from heat. Strain the cider through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the spices and orange pieces, or leave them in for a rustic look.
  6. Serve warm in mugs. Garnish each serving with a fresh cranberry or an orange slice if desired.

Notes

  • You can prepare this cider ahead of time and reheat it gently before serving.
  • If you do not have apple cider, you can use unfiltered apple juice.
  • For an extra layer of warmth, add two allspice berries to the mulling spices.
