Follow these steps to make a smooth, café-style creamy iced matcha latte at home using your preferred milk.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 teaspoons ceremonial grade matcha powder
  • 2 tablespoons hot (not boiling) water
  • 1 tablespoon simple syrup or preferred sweetener
  • 1 cup cold milk (oat milk or whole milk recommended for creaminess)
  • 1 cup ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Sift the matcha powder into a small bowl or matcha bowl to remove clumps.
  2. Add the hot water to the sifted matcha. Whisk vigorously in a ‘W’ or ‘M’ motion using a bamboo whisk until the mixture is smooth and frothy with no visible clumps. This is the matcha concentrate.
  3. In a tall glass, combine the simple syrup and the cold milk. Stir briefly.
  4. Fill the glass completely with ice cubes.
  5. Slowly pour the prepared matcha concentrate over the ice and milk mixture.
  6. Serve immediately. Stir gently before drinking to combine the layers.

Notes

  • For extra creaminess, use a small amount of heavy cream mixed into your milk, or create a cold foam topping.
  • If you do not have a bamboo whisk, use a small electric milk frother or shake the matcha and water vigorously in a sealed jar.
  • Adjust the sweetener amount based on your taste preference; start with less and add more if needed.
  • Use cold water to rinse your whisk immediately after use to prevent matcha residue from hardening.
