Ingredients
Scale
2 lbs sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
1/2 cup beef broth
1/2 cup unsalted butter, cut into pieces
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons cold water
Instructions
Place the cubed sirloin steak into the bottom of your slow cooker.
Pour the beef broth over the steak cubes.
Arrange the butter pieces evenly over the top of the steak.
Sprinkle the minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper over the butter and steak.
Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 3 to 4 hours, or on high for 1.5 to 2 hours, until the steak is tender.
In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and cold water to create a slurry.
Remove the lid from the slow cooker. Stir the slurry into the liquid in the slow cooker.
Increase the heat setting to high (if it was on low) and cook uncovered for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens into a gravy.
Serve the steak bites immediately over mashed potatoes or rice.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can sear the steak cubes in a hot skillet for 1-2 minutes per side before adding them to the slow cooker.
If you prefer a stronger garlic flavor, add 1 more clove of minced garlic.
This recipe works well with skirt steak or chuck steak cut into cubes.
