This recipe shows you how to make a rich, velvety chocolate fondue using just two main ingredients. It is simple to prepare, perfect for parties, romantic desserts, or cozy winter gatherings, and you do not need a special fondue pot.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Assorted dippers (strawberries, marshmallows, pretzels, cake bites)

Instructions

  1. Place the chopped chocolate in a medium, heat-safe bowl.
  2. Heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan over medium heat until it just begins to simmer around the edges. Do not let it boil.
  3. Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate. Let it sit undisturbed for five minutes to allow the chocolate to melt.
  4. Add the vanilla extract, if using. Whisk the mixture gently, starting from the center and moving outward, until the chocolate and cream are fully combined into a smooth, velvety dip.
  5. Transfer the chocolate fondue to a serving bowl or a small slow cooker set to low if you need to keep it warm for a party. If you do not have a fondue pot, you can keep it warm over a low heat source or simply serve it immediately while warm.
  6. Arrange your favorite fondue dippers around the bowl for dipping.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use high-quality dark chocolate.
  • If the fondue becomes too thick while serving, whisk in one teaspoon of warm milk or cream at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
  • Consider setting up a full chocolate fondue board with various fruits, cookies, and small pieces of pound cake for an impressive presentation.
