Make these simple, cheesy sausage balls using cream cheese for a moist, savory appetizer perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground pork sausage
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups Bisquick baking mix
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground sausage, softened cream cheese, Bisquick, and shredded cheddar cheese.
  3. Mix all ingredients thoroughly with your hands until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Roll the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
  5. Place the balls onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch between each one.
  6. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes, or until the sausage balls are golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly on the sheet before serving warm.

Notes

  • You can prepare the dough ahead of time, cover it, and refrigerate it for up to 24 hours. Roll and bake when ready.
  • For a slightly different texture, you can bake these from frozen; add about 5 to 7 minutes to the baking time.
  • If you do not have Bisquick, you can substitute 2 cups of all-purpose flour mixed with 1 tablespoon baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
