Make this comforting, family-friendly pizza pasta casserole using ground beef, rotini, and your favorite pizza toppings for a quick one-dish dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 12 ounces rotini pasta, uncooked
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • 1/2 cup mini pepperoni slices

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until the beef is fully browned. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Stir in the tomato sauce, 8 ounce can of tomato sauce, brown sugar, oregano, basil, and water into the skillet with the beef. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  4. Add the uncooked rotini pasta directly into the sauce mixture in the skillet. Stir well to coat the pasta completely.
  5. Transfer the entire mixture from the skillet into the prepared baking dish. Spread it into an even layer.
  6. Top the pasta mixture evenly with the mozzarella cheese, provolone cheese, and mini pepperoni slices.
  7. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the pasta is tender and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before you serve it. This is a great kid approved dinner option.

Notes

  • For a supreme pizza casserole flavor, add sliced mushrooms, onions, or green peppers when you brown the ground beef.
  • You can substitute rotini with penne or spaghetti if you prefer a different pasta shape.
  • If you want a creamier pizza bake, stir in 1/4 cup of cream cheese cubes with the sauces before adding the pasta.
