Create a bubbly, comforting Alfredo bake quickly using store-bought tortellini. This recipe is Mei’s shortcut for busy weeknights, blending deep flavor with speed.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (19 ounce) package refrigerated cheese tortellini
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease an 8×8 inch baking dish.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and cook for one minute until fragrant. Do not let it brown.
  3. Whisk in the heavy cream and chicken broth. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, whisking occasionally.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, black pepper, and salt until the sauce is smooth.
  5. Gently fold the uncooked tortellini into the Alfredo sauce until they are fully coated.
  6. Pour the tortellini and sauce mixture into your prepared baking dish.
  7. If using, sprinkle the breadcrumbs evenly over the top.
  8. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbly and the tortellini are tender.
  9. Let it cool for five minutes before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute vegetable broth for chicken broth to keep this vegetarian.
  • For an extra layer of flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg to the sauce.
  • If you prefer a richer sauce, use half-and-half instead of some of the heavy cream.
