Ingredients
Scale
1 cup leftover Eggnog
2 large Eggs
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon Ground nutmeg
Pinch of Salt
8 slices Bread (thick cut recommended)
Butter or oil for cooking
Instructions
In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggnog, eggs, vanilla extract, nutmeg, and salt until well combined. This is your custard base.
Dip each slice of bread fully into the eggnog mixture, letting it soak for about 15-20 seconds per side. Do not oversoak if using thin bread.
Heat a griddle or large skillet over medium heat. Add butter or oil.
Place the soaked bread onto the hot griddle. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
Repeat with the remaining bread slices, adding more butter as needed.
Serve immediately. Top with powdered sugar, cinnamon, or fresh fruit if desired.
Notes
Use sturdy bread like challah or brioche for the best texture.
If your eggnog is already heavily spiced, reduce the added nutmeg.
This works well with stale bread that needs softening.
