Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 cups mixed nuts (almonds, pecans, walnuts)
  • 2 tablespoons gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the gochujang, honey, soy sauce, sesame oil, and garlic powder until smooth. This is the Sprout adding a fresh twist to the Spoon’s savory base.
  3. Place the mixed nuts in a medium bowl. Pour the glaze over the nuts and toss well until every nut is evenly coated.
  4. Spread the coated nuts in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Roast for 12 to 15 minutes, stirring halfway through. Watch them closely during the last few minutes to prevent burning.
  6. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle with a pinch of salt.
  7. Let the nuts cool completely on the baking sheet. They will crisp up as they cool. Store in an airtight container.

Notes

  • We use a mix of nuts that hold up well to roasting. Feel free to personalize your mix.
  • If you prefer a milder heat, reduce the amount of gochujang slightly.
  • The honey caramelizes quickly, so monitoring the oven time is key for the perfect texture.
