Make a classic, savory, and tangy ham salad spread perfect for sandwiches or serving with crackers, using leftover ham.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked ham, finely chopped or ground
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped celery
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped onion (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch of salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Place the chopped or ground ham in a medium bowl.
  2. Add the mayonnaise, sweet pickle relish, yellow mustard, and Dijon mustard to the bowl.
  3. Stir in the chopped celery and onion, if using.
  4. Mix all ingredients together until they are well combined and the mixture is creamy.
  5. Season with black pepper and salt. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.
  6. Cover the bowl and chill the ham salad for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to blend.

Notes

  • For a smoother texture, pulse the ham in a food processor until finely ground before mixing.
  • If you do not have leftover ham, use high-quality deli ham.
  • For a tangier flavor, add 1 teaspoon of white vinegar.
  • This salad keeps well in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
