Ingredients
Scale
4 cups water for brewing tea
4 black tea bags (or 4 teaspoons loose leaf)
2 large ripe peaches, peeled and chopped
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water for syrup
1 cup cold water for dilution
Ice cubes
Optional: Fresh mint sprigs or lemon slices for garnish
Instructions
Make the peach syrup: Combine the chopped peaches, 1 cup sugar, and 1 cup water in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Reduce heat and let it gently simmer for 15 minutes, crushing the peaches slightly with a spoon.
Strain the syrup: Pour the peach mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl, pressing down on the solids to extract all the liquid. Discard the solids. You now have peach syrup.
Brew the tea: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Remove from heat and steep the tea bags for 5 minutes. Remove the tea bags.
Combine: While the tea is still warm, stir in about half of the prepared peach syrup. Taste and add more syrup until you reach your desired sweetness.
Chill: Stir in 1 cup of cold water. Allow the tea mixture to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until completely cold, at least 2 hours.
Serve: Fill tall glasses with ice. Pour the chilled peach tea over the ice. Garnish with mint or lemon if desired.
Notes
For a stronger peach flavor, add a few slices of fresh peach directly to the serving glass before pouring the tea.
If you prefer a less sweet tea, reduce the sugar in the syrup to 3/4 cup.
Store leftover tea concentrate in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
