Ingredients
Leftover Gingerbread Cookies, crumbled
Whipped Cream or Cool Whip, chilled
Cream Cheese, softened
Powdered Sugar
Vanilla Extract
Milk or Cream
Optional: Fresh berries or a light custard layer
Instructions
In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth.
Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract to the cream cheese, mixing until fully combined and fluffy.
Slowly beat in the milk or cream until the mixture reaches a smooth, spreadable consistency for your filling layer.
Begin layering the trifle in a clear bowl or individual glasses. Start with a layer of crumbled gingerbread cookies on the bottom.
Top the cookie layer with about one-third of the cream cheese mixture.
Add a layer of whipped cream over the cream cheese.
Repeat the layers: cookies, cream cheese mixture, and whipped cream, until all ingredients are used, ending with whipped cream on top.
If using, gently place fresh berries on the very top layer for color and brightness.
Chill the trifle for at least two hours before serving. This lets the cookies soften slightly.
Notes
You can slightly moisten the cookie crumbs with a splash of milk or sweet coffee if you prefer a very soft base.
Adjust the amount of powdered sugar based on the sweetness of your original cookies.
This trifle tastes best when served the same day or the day after preparation.
