Elevate your classic pecan pie with a rich filling infused with nutty brown butter, sweet maple, and a warming splash of bourbon. This recipe offers a delightful twist on a beloved dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, browned
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup bourbon
  • 3 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Spread the chopped pecans evenly over the bottom of the unbaked pie crust.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the browned butter, maple syrup, brown sugar, bourbon, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
  4. Carefully pour the filling over the pecans in the pie crust.
  5. Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the center is mostly set but still has a slight wobble. The crust should be golden brown.
  6. Let the pie cool completely on a wire rack before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • To brown butter, melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Continue cooking, swirling the pan occasionally, until the butter turns a nutty brown color and smells fragrant. Watch carefully to prevent burning.
  • If you prefer a firmer filling, you can bake the pie for an additional 5-10 minutes.
  • This pie is delicious served with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
