Enjoy a delightful sweet and salty snack with these easy-to-make Salted Caramel Pretzel Bites. Perfect for any occasion, these bites combine crunchy pretzels with rich, homemade caramel and a sprinkle of sea salt.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup mini pretzels
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into pieces
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt, plus more for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Arrange the mini pretzels in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and water. Stir gently until the sugar is moistened.
  3. Cook over medium heat without stirring, until the sugar dissolves and the mixture begins to boil.
  4. Continue to cook, swirling the pan occasionally, until the caramel turns an amber color.
  5. Carefully whisk in the heavy cream. The mixture will bubble up. Continue whisking until smooth.
  6. Stir in the butter, vanilla extract, and 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt until the butter is fully melted and incorporated.
  7. Remove from heat.
  8. Using a spoon, drizzle the caramel over the pretzels, ensuring each pretzel is coated.
  9. Sprinkle with additional sea salt while the caramel is still warm.
  10. Let the pretzel bites cool completely on the parchment paper until the caramel is set.
  11. Once set, break apart any clusters and store in an airtight container.

Notes

  • For a deeper caramel flavor, cook the sugar mixture a little longer until it reaches a darker amber color.
  • Ensure all your ingredients are measured and ready before you start making the caramel, as it cooks quickly.
  • If the caramel becomes too thick, you can gently warm it over low heat or add a tablespoon of warm cream.
