Ingredients
Scale
4-5 ripe pears, peeled, cored, and sliced
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes
1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large bowl, toss the sliced pears with lemon juice, granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and nutmeg. Pour the pear mixture into an 8×8 inch baking dish.
In a separate bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and salt.
Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Stir in the chopped nuts, if using.
Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the pears.
Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the pears are tender and bubbly.
Let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra treat.
You can adjust the spices to your preference.
Ensure pears are ripe but still firm to prevent them from becoming too mushy.
