Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup pecan halves
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon Sriracha sauce (adjust to your spice preference)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the melted butter and Sriracha sauce. Stir well.
  3. Add the pecan halves to the bowl. Toss gently to coat the nuts evenly with the spicy butter mixture.
  4. In a small, separate bowl, mix the brown sugar and salt.
  5. Sprinkle the brown sugar and salt mixture over the coated pecans. Toss again until the pecans are thoroughly covered.
  6. Spread the coated pecans in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Do not let them overlap.
  7. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, stirring halfway through. Watch carefully to prevent burning, as the sugar can darken quickly.
  8. Remove from the oven. Let the pecans cool completely on the baking sheet. They will crisp up as they cool.
  9. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.

Notes

  • For a milder heat, start with 1/2 teaspoon of Sriracha.
  • You can substitute maple syrup for brown sugar for a slightly different sweetness profile.
  • Taste the mixture before baking if you are unsure about the spice level; the heat intensifies slightly during baking.
  • These make wonderful small gifts when packaged nicely.
