Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds chicken wings, separated into drumettes and flats
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Chopped green onions, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
  2. Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels. This helps them get crispy.
  3. Arrange the wings in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 20 minutes.
  5. Flip the wings and bake for another 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. While the wings are baking, prepare the glaze. In a small saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, ketchup, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  7. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly, about 5-7 minutes.
  8. Once the wings are cooked, remove them from the oven.
  9. Pour the honey garlic glaze over the hot wings and toss to coat them evenly.
  10. Return the glazed wings to the oven for 5 minutes to let the glaze caramelize.
  11. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crispy wings, you can bake them on a wire rack placed over the baking sheet.
  • Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to your spice preference.
  • Freshly grated ginger provides the best flavor.
