Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and grated
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) or your air fryer to 380°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the grated sweet potatoes, flour, egg, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until everything is evenly distributed.
  3. If using the oven, lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper. If using an air fryer, lightly grease the basket.
  4. Shape the sweet potato mixture into small tot shapes, about 1 inch in diameter.
  5. Place the tots on the prepared baking sheet or in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not overcrowded.
  6. For oven baking: Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  7. For air frying: Air fry for 12-15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Serve hot and enjoy your homemade sweet potato tater tots!

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, ensure you squeeze out as much moisture as possible from the grated sweet potatoes before mixing.
  • You can add other seasonings like paprika or a pinch of cayenne pepper for a little heat.
  • These tots are delicious served with your favorite dipping sauces like ketchup, aioli, or ranch.
